Never been, but have experienced it the other way around by hosting Hungarians. I teach EFL to young French students, but 3 coaches arrived from Hungary (1994) and I ended up with a married couple and their 14 year old daughter instead of 3 children. I had a 18ft room decked out with 3 single beds and they were quite happy with that. I always go to a lot of trouble with the food and was surprised when they kept saying it was 'fine'. I thought they meant 'OK' but it turns out it is more similar in meaning to 'fine art' or fine wine. I felt more than a little foolish. Better prepared for next time I then ended up with two 65 year old women with no English at all. The trip was arranged by the factory their husbands worked for. It was heavily subsidised and included anyone who worked there, or their families. The husbands had refused to go and in a fit of defiance the two old (they seem older from there) ladies decided to go anyway - a once in a lifetime opportunity - leaving their husbands and families in uproar and chaos. Fortunately my 3rd guest was the English teacher from the local school sent as an interpreter. Neither of us could believe our luck. 10 days of conversation, fine dining with English cookery demonstrations beforehand accompanied by Hungarian wine. They were most impressed by our Christmas Pudding so we made and cooked some to travel back to Hungary. Could have been interesting in Customs as they were the size and weight of cannon balls.
