| Article: [senco-forum] Re Teaching Vocabulary - some prctical ideas please | |
|
Having returned from a short weekend break - (made longer by the 'wonderful' snow) I see the debate on teaching vocabulary continues. Now, with a few short days before we return to school, please can we have some practical, pragmatic strategies and ideas to teach vocabulary? They need to not involve buying anything - budgets are spent and orderbooks closed until late April. Resources and ideas from the net, or better still tried and tested by you experts out there. Debate has its place, so does the practical - it's the practical I need right now. SATS are only a few months away and I've plenty of pupils with moderate (general) learning difficulties who are SEN/EAL (not advanced learners who are on target to achieve CALP) The majority of my SEN/EAL pupils are semi-literate and not bi-lingual. Bullet points will do very nicely. Richard Oh, and could someone who's been involved or followed the debate make a summary of points learnt so far? |
