She could try : eg Alexander Technique lessons, Fish oil supplements and Karate including karate style meditation

These are things that have worked for people we know:

*
	Alexander Technique lessons give the child awareness training and a positive hour to look forward to each week
*
	Fish oil supplements are still unproven but appear to help
*
	Karate helps with learning to manage attention actively

All worth a try with or in lieu of ADHD? - but with or in lieu depends how much he is affected by the ADHD
Ritalin alone doesnt teach the child the self management skills s/he needs for when the Ritalin stops
She can always ask for a trial of Ritalin

One of our children has just been diagnosed with ADHD (age 10) and the
psychiatrist is suggesting ritalin. Mum is in a real quandary. Does anyone have
any advice/experiences? What are the alternatives to medication?

Many thanks
