Article: [senco-forum] Literacy

Hi David
Good luck in your new venture!
For starters, the Shannon Trust have have had success with Toe by Toe.
Providing access to a talking wp - ie text-to-speech + predictive typing
program and/or Wordbar are really good for improving skills/raising
confidence that lead in turn to more independent learning
Eddie Carron's El Lib and some of the Don Johnston Start to Finish books
are suitable for adult learners
Cheers
Judith

Given I've trained as a secondary school teacher (IT was my principal
subject) and also completed a 'basic skills for adults' training
course, what books or other resources that address the practical
nitty-gritty of developing literacy do you suggest I put on my 'must
buy or acquire' reading list?
