[senco-forum] Disability Equality Policy

I went on a good county course and we have started preparing the document  (secondary schol).  So far we have met as a working group made up of students Year 8-12 with a variety of need and a parent, deputy head and me.  We put together a questionnaire for pupils and wrote an article for our school newsletter inviting interested persons to help us put the policy together.  Next meeting soon to do the next bit.

Thanks for the responses.

All secondary schools had to produce a policy by December 06. Primary Schools, Special Schools and PRUs's will need to produce a policy by Dec 07.

I have got really good guidance from the Disability Rights Commission called "Schools and the Disability Equality Duty in England and Wales." I have also attended LEA training.

I have asked my LEA for a copy of their policy as it would be great to see a formulated policy which meets the requirements of the act.

Has anyone else started?
