Article: [senco-forum] Disability Equality Policy

That's what was helpful about our group meeting to put together a
questionnaire as it included wheelchair users; pupils registered blind/
hearing impaired those with ASD; ADHD; SpLd; etc.

Our disabled toilets are clearly marked and sited in 8 places around the
school and the key is available within 30 seconds from TAs who are on
hand and with the key for those that might need it. Pupils with
bowel/bladder problems also have small laminated cards making clear
that they are allowed immediate toilet access.

I think all of our pupils are aware of disabled facilities including our
new facility for physiotherapy and wet room. A number of our pupils
with particular syndromes or disabilities have put together, with the
help of members of their form, a power point presentation for their year
group (and others) about their situation. A year 7 boy's presentation
on his Marfan's Syndrome was great as it was full of humour. Another
girl with brittle bones did one for all Year groups when she was in Year
7. It included: "Please don't try to pick me up I might break!" A
boy with Lupus reckoned his one helped people understand why he was
always wearing a (banned!) base ball cap.
