I'm really lucky to have a team of experienced, dedicated TAs who are heavily involved in all manner of intervention programmes (ALS, ELS, Catch Up, 15 mins a day, 5 minute box, Springboard etc.). This happens in mornings as well as afternoons. It came about because we are an ISP school (intensive support programme) and we needed to show that we were doing extra things to move the chn's learning on. The class teachers all acknowledge the value of the work that is being done. I don't think this is UNtypical of my local authority. Maybe it needs someone/something outside the school to enable such change to take place in other areas and for it to be acceptable to class teachers? Vivienne In wet, soggy Enfield. |
