Hi Diana, There is a programme called "I'm Special" my speech and language therapists use when discussing diagnosis of autism/aspergers with children. The SLT's are very good at judging when it is right for the child to go through the programme (usually when the child themselves starts questionning why they are different or why they do things in a certain way). It is a very sensitive time for the child and needs very careful handling to maintain self esteem through the process. If you are based in the Midlands you would be welcome to come and chat to my SLT's who can show you the programme and talk you through it. All the best Veronica ----- Original Message ----- From: "Diana" <diana.wright2 at ntlworld.com> To: "Senco-Forum-Bounces" <> Sent: Wednesday, July 04, 2007 7:47 PM Subject: [senco-forum] pupil with autism > Has anyone had to tell a child they are autistic? > > We have a year 7 girl with a Statement for autism.
