Linda Look at the Disabled Rights Commission web site. You would need to demonstrate you had tried to make "reasonable adjustment" and avoid "unfavourable treatment." Or you could be on dodgy ground. The definition of reasonable depends on your budget but you would need to be able to demonstrate that you had explored ways that you can try to include him. Try your local authorities childcare team who should have someone who can advise around this kind of issue in your area (We have several different ways in my team (Early Years and Childcare) several of which would allow such a child to be included, but it would be the scemes organisers role to find staff but we would pay. Be very careful of anything that suggests you haven't explored lots of options otherwise you could be at risk of legal challenge. I would need another member of staff and that may not be possible with two weeks to go and we have no extra funding anyway ... how do I stand legally? can I refuse ? can I access any extra funds?
