Article: [senco-forum] How many TA hours do you have in your school ?

Hi
I'm Senco in an infant and nursery school.
We currently have

4 fulltime TAs -25 hours each
5 part-time TAs - 15 hours each
6 fulltime TAs - 25 hours each - with 1:1 children
5 part-time TAs - 25 hours - with 1:1 children
I know it's a different type of school etc, but ........

We have a huge issue around our budget at the moment. Our LEA funds 1:1 children through Statements, but the school has to pay the first 5 hours from the 'school's delegated SEN budget' (Thereby taking money away from other children)
We're hugely inclusive, but it is impacting a lot now on our finances. I think we 'subsidise' our 1:1s to about £16,000 a year.

The Head and I can't think of a way round it, as we deperately want to offer the best to the Statemented children. The LEA told us we are trying to offer a Rolls Royce service, and we should think about offering a Ford one... Outrageous!!

Good luck!
Tara
