It is facinating that we all work to the Code of Practice as do our LAs and yet the difference between schools and authorities is enormous. At my school - 909 on role, 60% on COP, 38 statements, 60% ethnic minority, 45% EAL - I have 14 full time TAs (32 1/2 hours) all on permanent contracts. Saves an awful lot of 'working out' and team feel settled as their contracts don't depend on the needs of the children. richard -----Original Message----- From: senco-forum-bounces at lists.becta.org.uk [mailto:senco-forum-bounces at lists.becta.org.uk]On Behalf Of Gaynor Dunkley Sent: 07 July 2007 20:28 To: SEN at tringham.net; senco-forum at lists.becta.org.uk Subject: RE: [SENco-forum] How many TA hours do you have in your school ? Hi Janice Pupils on role 1500 pupils on SEN register 200 26 statements In february once I know how many statements I have I sit down and calculate the numbers of hours that I am required in the statement to support . This depends on the statemnt but roughly (very roughly) CST == 6hrs D==12 E==24 at a cost of aprrox £7the amount we pay out TAs. I add up total number of hours and number of hours that TAs work over the week and calculate how many TAs I need for forthcoming year. To do this you need to know how much your LA allocte per hour of support. In theory if the number of hours to support fell then TAs would not have contratcs renewed. Has not happened as I am receiving more statements in than out so actually have to employ two new TAs for September. Taking total number to 18 full and part time. Biggest department in the school. My head just says to let him know what I need and makes sure that I get it. Only thing he wont change is the amount of money we pay TAs or give the majority of them permanent contracts. Only core team of 8 have these. gaynor >From: <SEN at tringham.net> >Reply-To: SEN at tringham.net >To: "Becta Senco" <senco-forum at lists.becta.org.uk> >Subject: RE: [SENco-forum] How many TA hours do you have in your school ? >Date: Sat, 7 Jul 2007 17:36:20 +0100 > > >Being mathematically incompetent I made a table with the info supplied: > >TA support per school: - > >AGE forms(on entry) pupil numbers TAs /hours SEN on register > >11-16 6 840 + 6th form. 3 / 66 > > ? 4 540 13 / 300 > > Comp. 9 1430 17 / 510 > >11-16 7 6 / ? 18-20% > >Primary 20 / 350 > > > >I was hoping to pro-rata number of SEN to TA hours, but not enough info as >yet. > >Feel free to add to your original info (or amend!)or join in. >Sharon > >No virus found in this outgoing message. >Checked by AVG Free Edition. >Version: 7.5.476 / Virus Database: 269.10.1/889 - Release Date: 06/07/2007 >20:00 > > _________________________________________________________________ Tell MSN about your most memorable emails! http://www.emailbritain.co.uk/ -- No virus found in this incoming message.
