Oh, from another list I'm subscribed to (one whose contributor
welcomed recipients to pass on their humorous piece).

It seems that humour such as this is now part and parcel of many
lists' culture and this has the added advantage of encouraging
long-time list members to stick around. So for example on this
Senco-Forum subscribers who are into this kind of humour have
something to look forward arriving in their inboxes around once a week
or so.
