Ah, well that¹s a whole new subject.  Microsoft Word does pick up the
³their² and ³there² error though.  I must admit the incorrect use of ³¹s² in
signs does grate on me too.

Yes, but then you find yourself having to look at signs that say things like
³Guests have ten pounds of there first nights stay². There are three errors
in that sentence but they all pass the spellchecker. Luddites-R-Us.

Given the supports available when writing electronically such as
spellcheckers, there¹s less excuse for producing misspelt words than when
handwriting!

I agree about handwriting, rather like scratching on cave walls or chalking
on boards. I¹m still a bit of a pedant about spelling though, but I think
I¹m swimming against the tide!

So, what you are saying Mary is that it's just a matter of time. I think
that it is, with the advance of technology, inevitable that handwriting and
spelling will  be relegated to the list of interests available at evening
classes.
