Article: [SENco-forum] ideas and learning objectives for practical activities pupils aged 10-16

Depends on their learning style, but if they want to do hands on stuff then
build models of whatever is going on in history, or ask them to design and
make games for others or younger students. This way you can cover lower
level work with the excuse that it is for someone else. Everyone wants to
be needed. One boy with some severe problems was really happy to help out
with some basic noun based games with a new student who spoke no English.
He derived great pleasure for being the better student for once and the 2nd
student saw him as helpful and friendly and did not 'see' the difficulties
first, as other students did. He also suggested the new student read Fuzz
Buzz and was happy to sit and share these as well as explaining some picture
books.

Making books (with ICT) that can be turned into auditory books for personal
or others use, can cover any subject or social situation that you need to
address.
