SENCO Update June 2007, Issue 86 P.1-2 News: Will assessment of need and funding be split up? - details of the 'lead in' to the Select Committee's consultation on statutory assessment; New head of SEN at the DfES - Hardip Begol has taken up the post previously held by Chris Wells. P.3 News: Progress on Children's Workforce Strategy - government update on on progress towards integrating the workforce; Communication aids survey - SCOPE is carrying out a survey (post CAP - Communications Aids Project) to identify whether there is a shortfall in the provision of commuication aids. P.4. Research News: A better start is not always so sure for children with SEN - an evaluation highlights the need for better links between services, better transition planning for young children and more effective staff training.
