Hi anne, I would suggest a two-pronged approach: bring in the Ruth Miskin people to train staff on the Miskin literacy approach and stock the Miskin reading scheme including Fresh Start for KS2 Y5 & 6 + underachievers. Miskin materials are available through Oxford University Press. bring in Steve Chinn to train on maths for underachievers and buy in Dienes blocks for every class. Also Cuisenaire rods and Numicon. www.stevechinn.co.uk We have just had a brilliant day's training here in Dubai by Steve Chinn.
