REALLY!

Opthalmology departments in the NHS use laser treatment all the time.

Generally they aren't being sued.

If you have troublesome floaters, the best advice is to see your 
optician.  If further assessment or treatment is needed, you will be 
referred on. 
 I'm told they are usually harmless- having been there since our eyes 
formed in the womb.  Sometimes a new big one is something else- your 
optician will know.
