Yes, I'll be doing one of these soon - sometime in July it's needed I think. Always a fun activity. I can show progress with the literacy (reading ages) of pupils as I test them regularly and I can track the NC levels in maths, science and English (well, everything if I wanted to) of students - I only do this for statements really but can for SA+ as well - and you can compare their results with progress of others - we find for example that a girl who came into school with English level 3 then gets level 5 at Yr 9 SATS whereas others come in at level 4 and get level 5 - so I can show progress there - but not everyone performs - we have another lad in Year 9 who has been tracked by the E.P. since he was about 8 and he goes up one third of a level in English each YEAR - but that he been ongoing for a long time and for him is good progress - even though it looks like a poor result as he has just been doing SATS and wasn't entered for the English papers - on my advice - as it would have been torture - we know he's still at level 3. WHat some people won't accept is that there are pupils for whom expecting a level 4 is totally unrealistic - they are never going to get to level 4 - we will be lucky if we can teach them to read the SUn and fill in a job application form. None of this helps really - I think I'm rambling - sun got to my brain - JaniceJanice Wray Secondary SENCO, Herts > Date: Sun, 10 Jun 2007 16:14:30 +0100> From: Susie.Pinder at bishopjustus.bromley.sch.uk> To: senco-forum at lists.becta.org.uk> Subject: [senco-forum] Department SEF (Secondary)/ Value for money> > I have been presented with a 32 page document telling me what needs to go in a Department SEF with some examples and then a further 32 page blank document which I needs to fill in for Learning Access.> > Foe some reason I only got it this week, other depts have had thiers for 2 and I need to compelte MOST of it.> > Anyone either done thiers, or found a good website with examples for SEN and all associated bits.> > As I am just launcing into the year 7a nd 8 Annual reviews (9 of them) I am not impressed, but know tht it will also form part of te Department Review. > > Like Jancie asked, how do we show Value for Money? Already I am being questioned why the students are not making the same progress/achievements as the majority of their peers. Starting from a lower pltform is apparently no answer for them not achieveing the same and problems assocated with communication etc is no answer for progress.> > Susie Pinder> Learning Access manager (disillusioned)> Email Disclaimer: The information in this email is intended only for the addressee named above.
