Hi Janice I do the same thing - I think it is really important to do this. After an awful year where no-one thought we had achieved anything with anybody I decided that I was not going to allow moan sessions to develop! At the end of the year, we always have a one lesson SEN Team Meeting usually on the second to last day of the school year. (The last day is assemby, kareoke, Staff performance and home at lunchtime) I give them one question only, which is 'what have we achieved?' The emphasis is on 'we' as a Team and responses range from tiny details like 'Fred can sit on his chair for a whole lesson' to major things like 'Freda managed to do all her GCSE exams'. We then move on to the important stuff like eating chocolate and rehearsing for the end of year performance. In addition to the end of the year debrief, which is informal, we also have Performance Management for TAs which asks them these four questions: 1. During the past year, which parts of your job have given you the greatest satisfaction? 2. Which parts of your job have given the least satisfaction? 3. Please note and comment on any recent training that you have had. 4. Are there any skills that you would like to develop next year? (Training needs) These and the conversation with their Line Manger seems to help us. Many thanks Janice Rolnick SENCO/AST Amanda Secondary SENCO Cornwall |
