You could suggest to them that they take a look at the IPSEA website <www.ipsea.org.uk> where they will be able to see one of IPSEA's support sheets about requesting statutory assessment. Look at <http://ipsea.org.uk/sevenfixes.htm#RequestingAssessment> On the Useful Links page there are Official Publications including the Special Educational Needs Code of Practice (ref 581/2001) which can be ordered free by calling 0845 602 2260. (I know that the rest of you know this. I'm describing it for Sue to copy to her friends if she sees fit.) The old statement may contain information that could be submitted to a new LEA. I think that they should consider seeking advice about this. IPSEA's advice line contact details are on their website too. I think there's also a mention of ACE who may alos be worth calling.
