We use "Time Out" cards frequently here to good effect. If we feel that a student may abuse them, we have a book for them which we ask them to fill in with why they came out of the lesson. We then discuss this them later and provide appropriate support. Not fool - proof, but working well most of the time. They are using them 3 or 4 times a week I think -and I wondered if anyone else out there uses a similar thing and how often do pupils use them - they are to stop them getting too angry in lessons and causing a storm. One is a boy and the other a girl. I don't think 3 or 4 times a week is abusing the system - others may disagree. It's always the same lessons and the same teachers and the pupils find my or their Head of House and work quietly at the back of the room - or in my case, sometimes help younger pupils with their work. Anyway, similar experiences gladly received.
