[SENco-forum] back yearing

A local paper has been full of this recently with a mother of premature &
now 4 year old twins who, by quirk of their early birth, ended up being born
at the end of August.  This means they should start school in September aged
4 and a few days.  The mother wants them to wait a year until they are aged
5 and have had another year to mature.  The LEA says that is fine but:
 1.  They then have to go into Y1 and miss Reception altogether
2. They cannot guarantee them a place at a local school as they would if
they went into Reception now!

There goes the parental choice.
