You need to make sure that they get it in mocks and so on. Too late to apply for Year 9 SATs now. Don't need to apply for GCSE, just have the evidence. Handwriting - even with years 9 and 10 try Speed Up!: A Kinaesthetic Programme to Develop Fluent Handwriting (Paperback) by Lois Addy (Author). Good fun and helps pupils a lot.
