Hi Greg, I agree with the handwriting lady, it's almost impossible to change a secondary pupil's handwriting significantly and I just base that on numerous failures. Personally, I have beautiful handwriting and I can write VERY fast, which is one reason I was a whizz at exams I suppose, and I can write MUCH faster than I can type especially if you allow for correcting it. But, I still have to bash away at the keyboard because it's never acceptable to do anything in handwriting these days...I've just spent ages typing a memo to the head which I could have written in half the time ... but wouldn't really look right if handwritten. So, I've decided it's barmy to give time to handwriting, especially to take pupils away from something else. Why not just concentrate on word processing? If they use it all the time they could use it in exams as normal practice, I think, especially with a diagnosis of dyspraxia. Bset Wishes Barbara. |
