Article: [SENco-forum] G&T- pressure

Like any other SEN the Gifted & Talented come from all walks of life.

'Giftedness' has an inherited factor as does 'talented' or 'autistic' but
not all children in these categories come from privileged backgrounds. Even
if they did it does not mean the children get the support they need at home
or at school, and so have to have additional support where need dictates it
or what is the point of trying to have inclusion for all.

There are also children like mine -G&T with SEN - who need extra support for
both aspects as both aspects cause problems with their learning. It is as
much a quirk of birth to be highly intelligent as it is to be dyslexic, and
despite the rosy picture painted of the positives of being dyslexic or the
assumption that being gifted means you do not need extra support -it is not
easy being either or both!

YAY! Lets take the part of the school population who are
likely to come from the most privileged backgrounds and give
them even more privileges.

Good old Neo Labour, aren't they just so wonderfully
progressive?
