Hi Martin Learning platform? Never heard of it so it is not being discussed in my school. My understanding is that what we do is being dicated by events outside of school like a requirement for all pupils to have access to 'space' to save files on the web somewhere. (No, that doesn't mean anthing to me either!) We use South West Grid for Learning. Frankly, it is all a mystery to me. I use computers, I don't pretend to understand how they work. Apparently a learning platform is not a large wooden construction delivered by Pickfords, but a statement of how a school plans for its use of ICT across the curriculum, for dealing with data recording, analysis and the meeting of pupils' and schools' needs. My experience of ICT and SEN has often been that this has been an afterthought for the most needy. So question is What influence do you sencos have? Does your influence lean on your experience of ICT, managerial position or consultation in the early stages? Are you able to use your knowledge to inform these decisions in the planning stages? I ask this because the potential of ICT to support youngsters with quite complex needs is enormous. You views would be welcome. Martin (Miles, EP) Amanda Secondary SENCO Cornwall |
