I used to have 13 hours per week admin support, but she got a TA post at another school and wasn't replaced. I now have help from the resources assistant, but only if she does not have photocopying to do. I've been getting up at 3.00a.m. and going to bed at midnight for weeks now just so that I can keep up with the paperwork. I have made necessary noises, but no changes yet!!! Beware - Around November - just as I got all the Exam preps and the Pupil List (register) up to date - complete break down - okay, just high anxiety/stress - but off work for 3 weeks and then off for 4 weeks hols (or would have been off longer) and just got back into the way of things in February. I have two afternoons of Admin Support (just put in as it happened!) and now have one extra teacher due to the workload since it happened. Also, cutting back on what I do e.g. requests for exam access arrangements to the Exam Officer - see JCQ regs! (we are getting a new chap) - Have now 2 ESL colleagues and 3 Support teachers - not all full time though - But we are a small secondary school and just getting overwhelmed - All the best - but at some stage think about a new model - My new model (waiting to be implemented) is the NHS model i.e. a waiting list!!! All the best and watch how it goes. I am a SENCO in a large secondary school with about 20 statements, 500 on the SEN register. I manage 15 Teaching Assistants and 3 teachers. I also teach drama for 14 lessons a week. I have 2 hours clerical support and am completely snowed under. I am keen to know what kinds of levels of admin support others get. Who out there has a full-time admin assistant? Who else would like one? Molly Bertrand SENCO Kidbrooke School Tel: 020 8516 7977 ext 137 .. .. |
