Article: [senco-forum] Best jargon yet

Following on from this I found a lesson plan from a PE teacher today whereby
after a warm up the class were to have a 'thought shower'. This conjured up
all sorts of ideas until I realised it was a 'pc' term for a brain storm!

My best yet is

"let us throw our sacred cows out of the window"!

Obviously not an English lecturer!

No, we have used it for some time to describe covering a secondment for
instance. I too like collecting these. Used to chuckle at managers who would
run ideas 'up the flagpole' 'fly kites' and who are always 'scoping' ideas.
My recent fave however was on radio 4 when management consultants were
interviewed about this kind of jargon. They generally reported that workers
dislike its use (no surprise) and one of them offered-for the one who makes
the coffee-the term 'beverage consultant'.

Asked at a meeting somewhere in the SW of the UK about cover to attend
meetings:

"Are we getting back-filled when taken away from core activities? Have our
agencies agreed to this?"

Precious

Sorry about the previous blank message. Just too excited about sending
this.

Am I the first to have heard about "back-filling" or do I need to get out
more?

Martin
