Article: [senco-forum] Help Ofsted

Between 4-10% seems to be a ballpark figure given for various SEN such as:

Dyslexia (various), Dyscalculia Dyspraxia, ADHD, & ASD

5% would be 1.5 of each per class. Some will be co-morbid but not sure if
that makes your stats better or worse.

This is without even looking for any with learning disabilities, or physical
disabilities.

2% with statements 2% extraordinarily gifted, but government is
encouraging the pick up of top 10% of either gifted or talented, but I don't
think you have to track these (?)

Don't forget to note 'dual exceptionalities' - gifted with SEN

At this rate you will have to decide what to leave off the register!
Sharon

20% would mean that this is what a school would expect -
It can be lower or higher -
2% should be G & T
2% should have significant needs -

But someone with stats knowledge will be able to give you a better
explanation.

Personally, would not worry too much about it - especially if no one is
offering you an explanation for the figure!

Our school has an Ofsted this Wednesday and Thursday. I have been
informed
by my head today that the percentage of children on my SEN register is
too
low and should be around 20%. Lead inspector has passed this comment in
pre
inspection phone-call.

I also have an inclusion register (being Inclusion Manger) that is far
larger, containing G&T, EAL, under-achievers that are part of wave 2
interventions etc.

Help!! Any advice on how to deal with this would be much appreciated.

My Ed Psych, at planning meetings has never passed comment.

Many thanks
