I think your son is extremely brave to consider  doing his exams after such 
a serious illness. Your son needs time and a nutritional diet to build up 
his strength. Surely the job offer company would understand any delay in him 
getting his exams completed?

I would contact the Uni and ask if he could be allowed to take the exams in 
a small room and allow him to have regular breaks through his exam  so he 
can rest. I know  we have done this for pupils doing GCSE in the past. Any 
dispensations can be retrospectively applied for in special circumstances 
like this.
I hope he gets feels better soon.
