Have you looked at Eddie Carron's Comprehension version of the El Lib?
Works same way, but has multiple choice questions at end of passage

I have 2 lovely lads ( Yr 7) who read very well but their comprehension
and vocabulary skills are weak because English is their second language.
I wondered if anyone out there has resources which they use with such
students.
I'd be grateful for ideas.
