What we do is with each new year group we gather them together and go through the scenario of the exam and model what we expect them to do so they are left with no doubts as to what they can do. We tell them thast they have to raise their hands etc etc Hope that's helpful Peter Smith -----Original Message----- From: senco-forum-bounces at lists.becta.org.uk [mailto:senco-forum-bounces at lists.becta.org.uk] On Behalf Of Richard Cook Sent: 14 May 2007 19:11 To: Sharon Fawcitt; senco-forum at lists.becta.org.uk Subject: RE: [senco-forum] KS2/KS3 readers Not sure Sharon where you're going with this. Even if each child had their own reader, you can't read for them unless they ask you to. Trying to get them to understand the need/importance was a lost battle. It is quite clear in the instructions for additional support. You may read the question to the child, in KS2 incl symbols and numbers IF they ask. You cannot reword the question. annie ----- Original Message ----- From: <helen.carpenter13 at tiscali.co.uk> To: <senco-forum at lists.becta.org.uk> Sent: Sunday, May 13, 2007 12:57 PM Subject: [senco-forum] KS2 maths sat readers next week- not really SEN,but maybe a bit?! Hi, just looking through the ARR book/ guidelines for KS2 SATs and it says a reader may help in "clarifying specific text in a mathematical question as long as no clue is given to the answer" Does anybody know what this means you can/ cannot do? Quite desperate as they begin tomorrow and we haven't had a visit for a few years- can't risk doin the wrong thing. Thanks to anybody who is able to shed some light!
