It is the same - But - One is noticeable through hyperactivity - And the other is noticeable through inactivity - Both show themselves in the classroom through (generally) not being able to concentrate on the work in hand. Generally, girls seem to come under the lack of activity one. Hence both come under the umbrella of difficulty in sustaining attention. The short answer. Stuart -----Original Message----- From: senco-forum-bounces at lists.becta.org.uk [mailto:senco-forum-bounces at lists.becta.org.uk] On Behalf Of Kitty McKenzie Sent: 16 May 2007 16:04 To: senco-forum at lists.becta.org.uk Subject: [senco-forum] ADD/ADHD ?difference I was under the impression that ADD/ADHD were different disorders, one quite passive and one hyperactive. I was looking up ADD on the Internet today as I have a child who is not particularly hyperactive (quite laid back really) but has very poor concentration/attention. However all the sites seemed to lump the two together as the same condition. Can anyone steer me in the right direction to find more info. Thanks Kitty |
