Article: [senco-forum] Translations

We have had to trawl the school and area for Polish (found a teacher and a TA); Nepalese (none found); Lithuanian (found one pupil two years older new to England but able who helped out); Phillipino (none found but good website); Thai (used a pupil who had been in England one year to help with parental interview). Then quickly produced an EAL guide for teachers and TAs. The local EMAS service has some names of people who can translate/interpret.
There are some good on-line worksheets//sample letters in different languages, I have used good Polish ones.

Hello
Thanks for the suggestion. I haven't asked them to either translate in a meeting or the report yet. I will ask.
What do other people do? What should I do if I have other parents whose first langauge is not one which is taught in school?
