I can understand those who wish to remain as TA's. So far on the Learning support course kids have barely been mentioned. The AEN module is the first to centre around case histories & shared anecdotes as much as the historical & current perspective or legislation!!! The TA's on the course are tough and hoping to be a new breed of teacher. It will be interesting to see in 5 years how their (and my) principles have survived or whether they have been buried in policy and paperwork. No I don't think so. TAs are increasing qualified, trained and permanent, a very different position to even a few years ago. many of my TAs have gone on to GTP and then teaching. Those that haven't have inevitably made the decision to remain unburdened by long hours and paperwork (or don't have the qulifications... yet). They want to work with kids!
