My only knowledge of Kumon Maths is from talking to children and parents, where these classes are being used instead of employing a 1:1 tutor. The child has not usually had any noticeable difficulties in Maths, just needs reinforcement and parents are willing to pay. There seems to be lots of repetitive calculation involving worksheets, but that could simply be how the child interprets it! One or two have told me that it isn't like Maths in school, where we use lots of apparatus and different activities. Other than that, I'm afraid I could not advise on dyscalculia. I think I would be very wary of recommending the class for a child with dyscalculia until I had sought advice from our LA SEN advisory service, who have expertise in the field. I hope that is of some help. Regards Jean Does anyone have experience of this to share? I'm especially interested in > its suitability for dyscalculic children? > Thanks, > Mary > > > > ______________________________________________ > This email has been scanned by Netintelligence > http://www.netintelligence.com/email > > |
