hi Linda The way I would approach this with short notice is to give him timed breaks i.e. 'stop the clock' (centre arrangement) as this would allow him to dry his hands but not advantage him with extra time. As I understand it extra time can be given by a centre but must be evidenced to show it gives no unfair advantage. The situation is that a parent has given us a doctor's letter saying his son has a condition of excessive sweating which means that his son has to stop writing and wipe his hands. He is asking for extra time for exams. I passed the request on to others dealing with it and a few days ago had an irate call- his son was not given the arrangements. Our new exams officer is being trained and her trainer told me that he can't have the arrangement for the second exam (tomorrow) as we should have applied for this to the exam board in advance. I have read the regulations again and am not sure that I read it that way though- surely it is a centre arrangement which we can do - i.e. extra time and/or rest breaks and separate invigilation? Also can we send in a special consideration form for the first exam where he wasn't given the arrangements? Please senco forum -do what you are so good at and give me some advice from your vast experience !! Linda No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition.
