Article: [senco-forum] Specialist teacher - roles/responsibilities

I get no financial reward. I have, for the first time in 3 years, given
myself one allocated period per week ( an hour) for access arrangements. I
also teach yr 7 bottom set English for 3 periods per week, but do not start
teaching them until after October half term. Without thos 3 periods, plus
using my frees for pupil assessment and my own time for marking, I would not
cope. Also starting assessments in June each year, when I usually lose at
least one Yr 11 period helps. But I feel underpaid and undervalued, even
criticized for the role!!

Subject: [senco-forum] Specialist teacher - roles/responsibilities

Hi all -

Looking at the role of the specialist teacher in our school -

Help please!

Do schools give recognition for the above post/qualifications?

What time is allowed for assessing for exams?

All feedback gratefully received - at present we employ an independent
Ed Psych - but need some in-house arrangements, hence now have the
Diploma in SpLD from Univ of Edin and going to complete the Certificate
in Educational Testing by Dyslexia Action - may even go for AMBDA status
(is this worth it?) -

Tks

Stuart
