[senco-forum] hearing loss and literacy skills

Just recently we have identified two Y2 children with significant hearing
loss due to glue ear that seems to have impacted on their literacy skills.
Neither child was showing any obvious signs.

One fits the criteria for dyslexia and one does not.

My suspicion is that these two are just the tip of a very large iceberg,
given the prevalence of antibiotics for ear infections.

Does anyone have an information sheet for parents on spotting hearing loss
and getting it checked out by a doctor?

One of the mums I spoke to said that once the dr explained her son's
symptoms to her it all made so much sense.
