My sister has just bought one for my Mum. I'll ask her where she got it from and let you know. My Mum is coming home from a fairly dreadful lot of hospital treatment. She now has far less mobility than before. I need a Buzzer alarm system. Something that she can just press - and we will be there. I could get a phone alarm - but we are never very far away from her - we live in the same house and she is just down the corridor - however - I tend to be working upstairs - whilst my husband could be house garden etc - and more importantly - at night - when once we are asleep we sleep like logs. Social services don't do alarms of any kind. The things you hand round your neck go to a phone centre - and they won't welcome a dozen calls a day. I'm sort of looking for something she can hand round her neck which would sound like loud doorbells upstairs and downstairs. Now I've tried all out local medicare sort of suppliers - no joy. I've looked on ebay - but perhaps I haven't found the right words to key in to search for something like this? Or do I find an electrician - and get him to set up something? ANY recommendations will meet with my gratitude - and my Mum's! In all of my life I have never seen her cry - not when my brother died - not when my dad died - and she goes to the dentist AND HAS NEVER HAD AN INJECTION! (I suspect that in her eyes I am a wimp!) That hospital has changed my mother from a sprightly old lady into a resigned, depressed person - who is called darling - luvvie etc because too many people don't bother to read her name - and they talk at her, rather than to her! They can have as much up on the walls as they like about dignity - but what they actually do is a different matter! I'm afraid that a fortnight of truly dreadful hospital treatment has changed that - and now I have seen her crying too many times! I cannot wait to get her home - but we are going to need that alarm! Sorry about that - a good moan has actually made me feel a lot better! However - I am sure that someone out there will have some idea of what I should be asking for - what do the SEN residential schools use for this sort of thing?
