Article: [SENco-forum] listening poster[Scanned]

It means that the ears, the eyes and the mouth all have to take an active
part in the listening process. You exercise control over your ears by doing
the auditory part of listening. you control the eyes by visually focussing
on the person that you are listening to and you control the mouth by using
it appropriately, which means by not using it at inappropriate times, but by
using encouraging vocal noises or words and by asking appropriate questions
that will encourage more from the person that you are listening to.

This poster sounds like one that is used in counselling and similar areas,
particularly in America.

Something that we all need to remember is that listening is a two way
process and that one way of encouraging good listening in those in our care
is by demonstrating good listening to those in our care.
