Agreed.
But I think you are misiterpreting what is tryuly
meant by listening. I think what you are all talking
about here is in fact attending to what is being said.
According to the MRC/IHR pamphlet on APD, the medical
term for listening is Auditory Processing, i.e. the
brain making sense of what we hear.
Children with APD may be attending, but unable to
process what is heard. They may be what you call
"listening" - giving 100% attention to what is beig
said - but if very little of it makes sense, or they
canot do what is being asked, you tell them they
haven't been listening. The ears may be, but the brain
isn't!
I think your poster sneeds to be be about paying
attention...
