Among the many misconceptions about Sencos is that we get financial rewards. I can't speak for secondary, but in primary, being a Senco does not automatically bring management points or membership of the Senior Management Team - the CoP recommended it, it was never statutory. Even before the current payscale restructuring, SEN teachers only had an extra allowance if they were in a special school or unit. Most primary sencos are also classteachers and have to fit the sen in as well - they are paid purely as teachers, no more, no less than any other teacher at the same scale. And that applies in both England and Wales. This has been raised before, several times. Either people genuinely do not know or are being disingenuous.
