I agree Aly... it could have been APD. or many other things I did not spend too much time searching for labels to be honest. I looked for and found the teaching solutions that improved these children's literacy... maybe what I did did impact on their APD. I wouldn't know (though I would love to). But as a teacher results are what is needed for the kid and the parents. Labels are very handy if they lead to at least part solutions. And often they do. Our dyslexia screening does guide us as to who can have a precious place in our dyslexia unit. Vision labels lead us to refer to optometrists, etc etc. Philippa On 10/27/07, Alyson Mountjoy <saylon_uk at yahoo.co.uk> wrote: > > The following can also be caused by APD and can > exist alone or with others or all in the first list... > > " - an inability to discriminate rhyme > > - an inability to transfer phonic knowledge from > words taught to other words with the same patterns - > solution > > - a difficulty with the sequencing of letters > within words - can be visual processing or APD > > - an over-reliance on the shape of the word, the > context of the language and a lack of applying the > phonic skills carefully taught and firmly in place - > solution > > - Short-term memory - could not retain ideas long > enough to get them onto paper despite excellent > ability and preparation of work > > - a difficulty to retain and apply learned phonics > " > > > Best wishes, > Aly > > Chair Auditory Processing Disorder in the UK/APDUK > www.lacewingmultimedia.com/APD.htm > www.apduk.org > > > ___________________________________________________________ > Want ideas for reducing your carbon footprint?
