I can only help with the dyslexia stuff. I had a child in Grammar who disappointed them terribly by getting a 'C'. She is a 150 IQ compensated dyslexic and has just been awarded the Student Disability Allowance for her final year at uni. The better the IQ/family support/ self belief they have the further they go before being spotted. You will likely find some moving into 6th form with 'C/D' grades the teachers or they were not expecting. At this stage they need study skills, inspiration mind mapping tools, organisational skills and concrete representations of the type of essays they are expected to produce in each subject. Also lecturers notes where possible will be a great benefit. Failing this permission to use a recording device for lectures. These are about L45 and better ones can be plugged into a computer to make speech to text documents and save hours of copying, note taking and writing up all of which causes problems to those with dyslexia My local college has a great dyslexia unit with Quick Scan computer software and Study scan (like an EP report). They intake 17% of students with SEN. These are the ones who did not do as well as they expected, but have fortunately not given up on the education system. The college also run study skills classes etc. Have a look round your area to see if there is something similar that you can tap into. Sharon - No virus found in this outgoing message.
