| Article: [senco-forum] valuing the forum | |
|
Many people have written on this theme before but in view of two recent mails where people felt the forum was of no value to them and had a high volume of messages... Yes there is high volume. There are also subject titles and a delete button. Over the years I have found that sifting through messages and picking the ones that relate to my work of IMMENSE value. It takes time (something any teacher is always short of) but without the forum I would have missed essential information that I have taken into school and directly applied to my teaching. I have passed on information to colleagues. The forum has been invaluable as a place to ask questions. Responses are many, varied, helpful and highly professional. Without the forum I would not have had the opportunity, for example, to learn of Martin Miles (co-author of Acceleread Accelewrite - now one of our core resources), Ruth Newbury, Jamie Munro, Ian Litterick and ianSYST, Eddie Carron (Electronic Library) and many other well-informed and helpful people. We have Alphasmarts in school as the forum convinced me they are worth having. Two Year 6 boys have had their lives changed by these. The forum is a fantastic resource. Philippa |
