Hello everyone I've often said that I value the Forum more than any other resource but I too meet people who say they can't handle the volume of mail. Like others have said - I use 'delete' a lot based on the subject line. I have been known to add some names to my 'do not accept any mail from this person' message rules list when I want to. I get very cross when we seem to turn into a 'one issue' obsessec place because it is some people's pet idea about solutions. But that seems to have stopped recently. I often skim the first three lines or so and then delete. But I still say that this is my most vauluable resource. I really would like to see more people posting messages - there are a lot of lurkers out there - I know because people I meet in Cornwall know who I am from my messages! (Thinks 'must be more careful about what I say'!!!) Yes there is high volume. There are also subject titles and a delete button. Over the years I have found that sifting through messages and picking the ones that relate to my work of IMMENSE value. It takes time (something any teacher is always short of) but without the forum I would have missed essential information that I have taken into school and directly applied to my teaching. I have passed on information to colleagues. The forum has been invaluable as a place to ask questions. Responses are many, varied, helpful and highly professional. Without the forum I would not have had the opportunity, for example, to learn of Martin Miles (co-author of Acceleread Accelewrite - now one of our core resources), Ruth Newbury, Jamie Munro, Ian Litterick and ianSYST, Eddie Carron (Electronic Library) and many other well-informed and helpful people. We have Alphasmarts in school as the forum convinced me they are worth having. Two Year 6 boys have had their lives changed by these. The forum is a fantastic resource.
