Article: [senco-forum] Counselling parents of children with SEN

Most parents get the most support from groups of parents in a similar situation.

Most 'disabilities' have their own national group with resources for
parents - many have local groups - and most have their information
online - so a quick search should find what you are looking for.
There are also many forums like this one - many can be found on Yahoo
Groups.

For parents of children with autism, the NAS has courses around the
country which are very helpful - especially for parents with recently
diagnosed children - the series of courses are known as the Help
program, funded by Vodaphone, and details are available on the NAS
website. Some are one-day, some two-days and some last for a couple
of weeks

There is also a Helpline and a Parent to Parent line.

Local groups can also be very helpful.

The LA's Parents Partnership will have good local contacts.
