One of our Y3 pupils has been using 2 programmes called "Plus 1" and "Power of 2" as recommended by his ed psych. Two terms ago, he seemed to have extremely limited understanding/knowledge of number, patterns, number bonds etc. We had tried various approaches and were struggling to know just how to help him. Last week I watched him confidently doing (and explaining) addition of tens and units, with carrying ! As I understand, it is a repetitive "Toe by Toe" type programme, done daily for 15 mins - at home, with a very dedicated mum, in this case. www.powerof2.co.uk Sarah >> Message: 5> Date: Sat, 22 Sep 2007 04:28:40 -0400> From: janrolnick at aol.com> Subject: [senco-forum] Maths> To: senco-forum at lists.becta.org.uk> Message-ID: <8C9CB09B6F5D185-89C-5D9A at WEBMAIL-DC18.sysops.aol.com>> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"> > We have a large number of low achievers in maths. We are trying to address this by using numberbox (same publsiher as five minute box) which is excellent but we need other materials ro use alongside it. Does anyone have anyhting they could recommend? I would say some of these children, although juniors, are infant level.> > > Many thanks> > > > Janice Rolnick> SENCO/AST _________________________________________________________________ The next generation of MSN Hotmail has arrived - Windows Live Hotmail http://www.newhotmail.co.uk |
