What I found the most frustrating was the total refusal of a parent without literacy difficulties to accept that their child needed support. There weren't many in my career, but the last one I dealt with informed me, "There can't possibly be anything wrong with my son." Of course we tried our best to offer the needed support for both learning and behaviour in school, with no reinforcement at all from home - in fact home attitudes had a lot to do with the child's poor behaviours!
